Šiaulių bankas will change its name in May to Artea bankas. The bank’s General Meeting of Shareholders unanimously adopted the decision to change the name of one of Lithuania’s longest-established banks.
“This is a historic moment and one of the biggest and most significant changes in the history of the Bank. This change will be directly felt by half a million customers of our Bank Group, as well as thousands of corporate customers and partners. We aim to continue to be even closer to our customers, providing accessible, flexible and modern banking services. Artea is more than a new name. It is a strategic change for the bank, extending to our approach to services, customers, partners, employees, investors and community. Changes are coming very soon,” says Vytautas Sinius, CEO of Šiaulių Bankas. While rebranding Šiaulių bankas remains the largest Lithuanian-owned bank in the country. Its main shareholders – Lithuanian business leaders Invalda INVL, Tesonet Global, Willgrow and the international European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) – unchanged. The bank also has several thousand small shareholders in Lithuania.
The Lithuanian character of the Artea name is also evident in the design motifs inspired by Lithuanian patterns and the sound of the word. Artea sounds similar to the Lithuanian word for ‘closer’, which is also the meaning of the name.
The Bank has been consistently preparing for this change and in the coming period will focus on ensuring the rebranding won‘t cause any inconvenience to its customers, who will be able to enjoy smooth access to the daily services provided under the new name Artea.
The services offered to customers will not change. Bank accounts and login to self-service environments or online banking will not change. Neither will there be any need to change contracts or bank cards. The Bank will inform all customers individually in advance of any changes. The bank is expected to start operating under the Artea brand on 05.05.2025.
“We understand that this is a big change for many of our customers and we hope that this news will make them happy – with a growing bank they will have even more quality everyday banking, savings and investment services to choose from. We felt that the current name of the bank that we grew up with and which became the bank we are today, does not reflect our scope and ambition to become the best bank in Lithuania and the first choice of the country’s residents and businesses.”. Our ambition is to become the bank we want to grow with,” says V. Silnius.
